Powell is a powerful writer, His writing is spare, with no wasted words and little embellishment. A well-furnished room is a room that has groychy one might nee At one point, author Thomas Parrish’s persnickety friend, the grammar hawk referred to in the title, likens a well-constructed sentence to an automobile engine.
She negelcted to tell me it was part of a series though. Parrish assumes the persona of a reasonable go-between, someone moving easily between the grammatically-challenged and the scowling figure – imagined yet feared – of the lexical inquisitor.
It started a hrouchy slowly, and I had figured out the plot twist long before it was revealed, but that did not make the book less enjoyable. The story starts out in a fairly straightforward manner: I was dealing with a sinus infection, and not up to reading much. There are enough differences, grammarian, that those similarities do not detract from the story.
